A New Era for League Fans
Riot Games is taking the leap from digital to tabletop with Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game, and it’s already making waves in the TCG community. The first set, Origins, officially launches in English on October 31, 2025, with products available through local game stores and the Riot Games Store.
Whether you’re a League veteran, a card game grinder, or just curious about the hype, Riftbound is bringing something fresh.
How Riftbound Works
Unlike traditional TCGs where you win by reducing an opponent’s life, Riftbound flips the script:
-
Battlefield Control: Players fight to capture and hold objectives called Battlefields. Score points by holding them; reach 8 points (or 11 in teams) to win.
-
Resource System: A dedicated Rune deck powers your plays. You can tap Runes for temporary boosts or recycle them back into the deck to pay for bigger effects.
-
Legend & Champion Identity: Each deck starts with a Champion Legend (like Jinx or Viktor) that defines your color pair (Domains) and comes with powerful, thematic abilities.
-
Domains: The game features six Domains (Fury, Calm, Mind, Body, Chaos, Order), each shaping deckbuilding with unique flavor and mechanics.
-
Bring Your Own Battlefields: You actually choose three Battlefields for your deck, influencing both your strategy and the objectives in play.
This structure ensures every deck has a distinct personality while leaving room for creativity.
